Recent Applications of Aggregation Induced Emission Probes for Antimicrobial Peptide Studies

نویسندگان

چکیده

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are being intensively investigated as they considered promising alternatives to antibiotics where their clinical efficacy is dwindling due the emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Accompanying with development AMPs, a number fluorescent probes have been developed facilitate understanding modes action AMPs. These used monitor binding process, determine working mechanism and evaluate properties In particular, recent advance aggregation-induced emission (AIE) fluorophores, that show many advantageous over traditional probes, there an increasing research interest in using AIE for AMP studies. this review, we give overview development, highlight progress fluorescence particularly field propose future perspective developing potent agents combat AMR.

Aggregation-induced emission-fluorophores and applications.

Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) is a novel photophysical phenomenon found in a group of luminogens that are not fluorescent in solution but are highly emissive in the aggregate or solid state. Since the first publication of AIE luminogens in 2001, AIE has become a hot research area in which the number of research papers regarding new AIE molecules and their applications has been increasing i...

Aggregation-induced emission of siloles

Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) is a unique and significant photophysical phenomenon that differs greatly from the commonly acknowledged aggregation-caused emission quenching observed for many π-conjugated planar chromophores. The mechanistic decipherment of the AIE phenomenon is of high importance for the advance of new AIE systems and exploitation of their potential applications. Propeller...

Tunable aggregation-induced emission of diphenyldibenzofulvenes.

Nonemissive fulvenes can be induced to luminesce by aggregate formation, with the crystalline aggregates emitting bluer lights more intensely than their amorphous counterparts.

Aggregation and hemi-fusion of anionic vesicles induced by the antimicrobial peptide cryptdin-4.

We show that cryptdin-4 (Crp4), an antimicrobial peptide found in mice, induces the aggregation and hemi-fusion of charged phospholipid vesicles constructed of the anionic lipid POPG and the zwitterionic lipid POPC. Hemi-fusion is confirmed with positive total lipid-mixing assay results, negative inner monolayer lipid-mixing assay results, and negative results from contents-mixing assays. Aggre...

Studies of antimicrobial resistance genes using DNA probes.

In nature there is a theoretical gene pool from which microorganisms can acquire genetic determinants that increase their chances of survival in hostile environments. This gene pool consists of genomic DNA, plasmids, phages, insertion sequences, and transposable elements, all of which exist in a dynamic equilibrium. Among the genes that can be obtained by bacteria are those encoding antimicrobi...
